Thinking of the 60's and it's almost 2014

It is not only a new year, it is a new everything
That grey smoke around the feet is gone
Thinking of the south, central and living in the North America
It is the warrior that never dies, full of hopes, wishes and a desire to be turquoise
May the universe gift us with a magic power
so we won't ever hurt again
May the sun shine for all
not as a gift but as an opportunity to reborn

Ai Weiwei Exibition at the Art Gallery of Ontario !

It was maybe 2 years ago that I watched a movie about Ai Weiwei's work of Art. Born in China in 1957, he is now one of the most famous Contemporary artists, why ? Well his art is a big protest against all the injustice happening in China with it's own population, stopping them from having the right to express them selves, use the social media ... Trying to create a big population of Robots .
You can watch this same film that I watched to get a more complete understanding of the artist , It is called " Ai Weiwei Never Sorry " here is a link for the trailer

Here is his 1995 Work, " Dropping a Han dynasty urn " , really interesting how he is using such a symbolic object for the Chinese culture and he is dropping it in 3 parts with a very determined expression

Ai Weiwei with Musician Zuoxiao Zuzhou in the elevator when taken in Custody by the police, August 2008, he had a head injury and had to have a surgery , he claims that the injury was caused by the police ... I believe him

That was crazy I knew about the earthquake but that was the first time I was seeing images and really actually finding out that the over 5,000 kids that died were absolutely forgotten by the government that never showed the population an exact number of kids that died, Ai Weiwei went to Sichuan, city where the earthquake happened, and listed as many names as he could ...

One of my Favorites !

Ai Weiwei, Forever Bicycles, 2003 constructed from 42 Forever brand bikes Manufactured in Shanghai Since 1940

You can see the mural with the name of the kids that dies in the earthquake

This is Just sooo Famous I cried when I saw it !
Grapes !  chairs from the Qing Dynasty

Behind the Tea House made of 432 compressed tea cubes

Ai wei wei was really inspired by Andy Warhol when he Lived in NY and that made me understand more about his art, he is less Pop but there is a touch of Warhol in his art for sure!

Coloured Vases

The Moon Chest, 2008
